Online EXIF Viewer reads photo metadata on your device. You do not need an account, and the app does not upload your original photos.

Viewing and exporting

When you choose, drop or paste an image, your browser reads the file locally. The preview, metadata search and Markdown, JSON or CSV exports all happen on your device. The app keeps your selected files in memory until you clear them or leave the page.

Removing image metadata

The EXIF remover creates cleaned JPEG, PNG, and WebP downloads locally. It does not send originals or cleaned images to a server. EXIF, location, text, color profiles, and other nonessential metadata are removed. If you keep photo rotation, only a needed orientation tag is rebuilt. The original file stays unchanged; images can still reveal identifying information in their visible pixels.

Creating a share link

Sharing is optional. After you choose "Create share link," the app stores the selected metadata in Cloudflare R2 and gives you a public link. Anyone with that link can read the shared record. Share pages ask search engines not to index them, but this is not access control.

Location and serial numbers are hidden by default. The serial-number option also removes fields named for device owner or unique identifiers. Other text fields can still contain personal information, so review the share preview. Shared links cannot be edited or revoked through this app. I may remove shared records, and links are not guaranteed to remain available indefinitely.

Photo previews

A shared thumbnail is optional and off by default. If you include one, a small JPEG preview is sent to Replicate for an automated image safety check before storage. If the check is unavailable or does not approve the image, the app creates the link without a thumbnail. Existing share links may contain thumbnails from the previous site.

Location maps

Coordinates are displayed locally. A map only loads when you select "Show map," which sends the coordinates and a normal web request to OpenStreetMap. Opening Google Maps also sends the coordinates to Google. The app does not request your device's current location.

Device reference images

For a small set of recognized camera and phone models, you can choose "Show device image." This loads a credited reference image from Wikimedia, which receives a normal image request, including your IP address. Your original photo, filename, location and other metadata are not sent. Model matching happens locally; unrecognized models do not load an image.

Browser agents

Browsers that enable the experimental WebMCP API can let an agent read metadata from your currently selected photo. This tool returns text tags and the filename to your browser's agent; it does not upload the image or create a public link. Use your browser's agent permissions to control access.

Analytics and service providers

I use Simple Analytics to understand aggregate website traffic. The site's tracking code uses a normalized share-page path and does not send image filenames, metadata, GPS coordinates or share IDs as analytics events. Cloudflare processes requests to serve the website, store shared records and limit abusive sharing. Request information such as IP addresses may be processed by these providers.

Other websites

Links to camera retailers, photography resources and map providers open other websites with their own privacy practices. Camera search links may be affiliate links; qualifying purchases can support this tool.
