Remove metadata before sharing
EXIF (Exchangeable Image File Format) is metadata saved inside a photo. It can include where and when the photo was taken, the camera used, and other details you might prefer to keep to yourself. Removing metadata creates a cleaned image file; it doesn't hide anything visible in the picture.

How do I remove EXIF data from a photo?
Choose a JPEG, PNG, or WebP image, review the rotation option, and select Remove metadata. Download the cleaned copy. Your original file stays unchanged, and your photo is never uploaded.
What metadata does this remove?
It removes the original EXIF data, including GPS location, camera details, capture dates, and serial numbers. It also removes XMP, IPTC, comments, embedded thumbnails, color profiles, and other nonessential metadata. If Keep photo rotation is enabled, a new EXIF block can retain only the orientation tag. Image dimensions, compression information, and display settings still exist because they are needed to read the image.
Will removing metadata reduce image quality?
The photo isn't resized or recompressed. Transparency and PNG/WebP animation are preserved. Embedded color profiles are removed and colors may display differently. Turning off Keep photo rotation can also change which way a photo appears.
Does the cleaned image contain any EXIF?
With Keep photo rotation turned off, no EXIF block is retained. When it is on, only a non-default orientation tag is rebuilt if the image needs it. Camera, location, dates, and other original EXIF fields are still removed. Basic file properties such as dimensions remain visible in any metadata viewer.
Can I remove metadata from HEIC, TIFF, or RAW files?
This remover currently supports JPEG, PNG, and WebP, including animated PNG and WebP. HEIC, HEIF, TIFF, AVIF, GIF, and RAW removal are not supported. You can inspect many of those formats in the EXIF viewer.
Will this make my photo anonymous?
Removing metadata reduces hidden information, but the image itself can still reveal faces, addresses, landmarks, or other identifying details. This does not remove watermarks, redact pixels, or sanitize information hidden inside image pixels. Downloads use a generic filename rather than carrying over your original filename.
